Hi sam,
What size and style? if it's a race bike you are after you may have to up your budget a little.

Im 5ft 7inches tall, and 14... i dont know much about BMX bikes and sizes, is a cruiser allowed for all the races, and is it as quick?i think as i do mountain biking this may be the best option ....im looking at just having a bike that can go round the track really, when i get a bit better i may get a race bike, but i currently am sponsored and ride downhill mountain biking, so i have all the helmet and protection clothes...

hi sam sounds like you will fit right in, i am sure you will find cruiser more appealing to start with and yes they have their own race class during the summer but ride mixed in over the winter. But I am sure once you have tried a 20" there will be no going back.
You may well find a general purpose 20" on e-bay for fifty quid especially after xmas.
If you are able to make it to a race i am sure someone in our club would let you have a go during a practice session.
Next EA race is at Peterborough on Jan 19th ish.
There are no sessions planed at MK until the new year now, the same applies if you come allong you can defernatley try my cruiser and 20" and see what you think.
When there is a session there will be a thread on this board giving times and dates.
Regards, Lee.

Ive just found this bike on ebay... was wondering whether you think this would be alright... i didnt realise cruisers had 24inch wheels so ill definately get a 20" cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120197613491&ssPageName=STRKi hope to get this bike not only to learn how to ride bmx but to improve my skill in all aspects of cycling, i hope to do a few little races once i get used to the feel of a small bike so i may see you guys soon...

ive looked at both the bikes you linked... the GT looks pretty nice not sure if i can get down to chester though...
the eight pack looks nice and pretty near but is that heavy aswell? i guess your right that mongoose does look a bit of a lump and a bmx should be light and nimble!
either of them two bikes look good to me, what one do you think is most suitable? and ill probably get that one

If you can get there the GT is a better bike, if not DK is fine, wont be as heavy as the goose.
