Wanted: Cheap/Starter Race BMX

My daughter has just started to get into BMX racing and wants me to ride with her at the practice sessions. (She's only 4!). Got lots of MTBs, but would like a 20" BMX. No idea what size toptube etc I would need (it all seems a bit complicated the sizing on BMXs?). But I'm 5'8" tall. Can pay up to about £150 max. Based in Amersham, Bucks, so could travel up to an hour to collect. Hope you can help!

Hi Zoe, you will need a pro or pro xl size frame that's a top tube between 20.5 & 21.5 inches. I don't have one for sale personally, it would be advisable to get a steel frame if poss...brands like Dialled, S&M, Standard as the ally frames have a life span of about 5 years before they start to degrade and then eventually fail. I'd try e-bay and the for sale section in www.bmxtalk.com

Brill, thanks Lee. I'll have a look on the bmxtalk site - ebay just seems full of jump bikes! Re the ally frames - is that because they are lighter/different grade of alu than MTB frames? - all my MTBs are ally and I've had one for 10 years + and it's still going strong.

Hi Zoe, MTB's are far more forgiving and normally have a heap of shock impact devices on them. Snapped frames isn't that unusual in BMX racing .

I amy have something that might fit the bill here?

I have 2 Felt 20 inch items,
I x complete race bike brand new never been on a track yet in black.
1 x yellow frame with various parts again brand new, Sector Pro xl 21 inch T/T the other is the same.

The black ali frame, chromo forks and stem, also complete brake system and bars/grips, seat post, seat and clamp will be available. New pad set.
Only need cranks and wheelset with tyres.

How does £150.00 sound for this no offers???
